JUNE 2024 — Author, marketing professional, and professor Brianna McCabe is collaborating with The Book House, a recently opened book store in Pier Village, to sign copies of her semi-autobiographical self-help book, The Red Flags I’ve (Repeatedly) Ignored, on Thursday, July 11 at 6 pm.

McCabe, a graduate of Monmouth University who received both her bachelor’s and master’s at the institution, was a former editor-in-chief of the school newspaper, The Outlook, where she drew inspiration to one day write a book after having been inspired by her former club advisor and professor John Morano, who has authored several books in his eco-adventure series.

“Long Branch really feels like a second home to me,” shares McCabe, “and it honestly was the catalyst to my professional career.” The author shares that she not only fostered a second family from having spent nearly ten years in the area, including her professors who ultimately motivated her to follow in their footsteps and become an educator herself one day, but fostered her drive to one day write a book, too.

In The Red Flags I’ve (Repeatedly) Ignored, McCabe puts herself on the line in the hopes of cracking the code on sex, love, and relationships, but instead learns what it means to actually love herself. She navigates the dating scene—eliminating potential boyfriends one red flag at a time—and shares all of her funny, raw, and real details with readers along the way.

“Some of the chapters may or may not have been inspired by some experiences during my college years,” teases McCabe.

Throughout the book the author also offers a self-love roadmap to readers.

“Writing this book was therapeutic for me as it allowed me to reflect on my life from a mature, compassionate, and even light-hearted perspective,” McCabe explains. “I hope to motivate others to take a look at their own lives, especially as it pertains to all that is their dating decisions and overall experiences. In the end, I want everyone to know that we’re all beautiful beings worthy of love and respect, but we must first set those boundaries and philosophies within ourselves.”

The book signing will take place at The Book House, a 1,307-square foot shop located at 15 Morris Avenue, where McCabe will be signing copies of her book and connecting with readers.
